2nd MLC-SLM Workshop to Take Place at INTERSPEECH 2026 in Sydney

2nd Multilingual Conversational Speech Language Model Workshop will take place on October 2, 2026, at ICC Sydney, as a satellite workshop of INTERSPEECH 2026.

SYDNEY , AUSTRALIA, September 15, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The 2nd Multilingual Conversational Speech Language Model Workshop (2nd MLC-SLM Workshop) will take place on October 2, 2026, at ICC Sydney, as a satellite workshop of INTERSPEECH 2026.

The full-day Workshop will bring together researchers, industry professionals, and participating teams to discuss the latest research in multilingual conversational speech technologies. The program will feature five Keynote talks, the Challenge Summary & Awards Ceremony, Oral Sessions, and a Poster Session.

Five Keynote Speakers

Five researchers and experts from the speech and AI community will give Keynote talks at the Workshop:

• Yonghong Yan, Chief Scientist at the Institute of Acoustics, Chinese Academy of Sciences
• Jinyu Li, Partner Applied Science Manager at Microsoft
• Kai Yu, Distinguished Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Director of the Institute of Machine Intelligence; Co-founder and Chief Scientist of AISpeech
• Hung-yi Lee, Professor at National Taiwan University
• Shinnosuke Takamichi, Associate Professor at Keio University

The Keynote talks will cover research and developments in speech, language models, and related AI technologies.

Challenge Results and Winning Team Presentations

The Workshop will also announce the final results of the 2nd MLC-SLM Challenge 2026, which brought together research teams from different countries and regions to develop systems for multilingual conversational speech.

The Challenge Summary & Awards Ceremony will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by Oral Sessions featuring presentations from five winning teams on their systems, technical approaches, and research results:
